Del Monte makes a move of Interest into NFTs and Metaverse

Del Monte Foods, one of the country’s top makers, distributors, and marketers of branded processed food for the US retail market, with annual sales of around $1.8 billion, has expressed strong interest in non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the metaverse.

 

The submission of eight NFT and metaverse-related trademark applications for “DEL MONTE” and “The Del Monte Shield” proves the company’s interest.

 

The applications, which were filed with the USPTO on October 5, detail the company’s ambitions to provide:

 

  •  • Virtual goods, namely, foods and beverage products for use in virtual worlds;

     • NFTs;

     • Online retail services featuring virtual goods and NFTs;

     • Online marketplace for buying virtual goods and services in the nature of food and drink items, restaurant services, and NFTs;

     • Online virtual restaurants.

Del Monte Foods isn’t the first company to apply to enter the metaverse and adopt NFTs. Hormel FoodsMarsUTZConagra BrandsPanera BreadWingstopPanda ExpressMcDonald’s, and others have also applied for trademarks to enter the metaverse with virtual food and drinks.
